see what your results are..
DON'T scroll down too fast -do it slowly and follow
the instructions below exactly, do the math in your
head as fast as you can. It may help to say the
answers aloud quietly.

FOLLOW these instructions one at a time and as
QUICKLY as you can!

What is:

2+2?

4+4?

8+8?

16+16?

Quick! Pick a number between 5 and 12.

Got it?

Now scroll down...

The number you picked was 7, right?

Isn't that weird???

No, that was NOT the number I picked, however, the number I picked DOES end in the same 4 letters.

ok how about this one....

What is:

1+5

2+4

3+3

4+2

5+1

Now repeat saying the number 6 to yourself
as fast as you can for 15 seconds.

Then scroll down.

QUICK!!! THINK OF A VEGETABLE! Then arrow down.

Keep going.

You're thinking of a carrot right?

If not, you're among the 2% of the population whose
minds are different enough to think of something else.
98% of people will answer with carrot. Michael

The first post I picked a different number. My 2nd pick I did indeed say carrot but I was visualizing a head of lettuce. In the nanoseconds available I could not decide if that image should be labeled "Iceberg" or "Romaine"...so I answered long, orange tuber.

What percentage of the pop does that make me?

LOL, now thats funny.

No clue how that works...because it didn't. Not on either one of them.

well mike i must be weird then cause neither question did i answer the way you say i should have, 1st answer was 5,2nd was potato, explain that , Dave G

hmm, im guessing your the weirdos, and everyone else who is saying 7 and carrot just arnt leaving a message.
:)

Hmmm... when you said to pick a number between 5 and 12, I said carrot.....strange. :goofy:

I'm easy. Got 7.

I'm lazy. Didn't finish the vegetable thing.

Thanks for the laugh!! I needed that after a day like today.....KD

I must be normal. Picked 7 and carrot. And tripped out.

After the flashback ended, I did it again, and picked different numbers and vegetables. Ha - it doesn't work twice in a row :)

I never even considered carrot, the first thing that came to mind was rutabaga (and I don't even like rutabaga), but I wasn't certain that was a vegatable so I switched to brocolli. On the first test I picked 8 'cause it's about halfway between 5 and 12. Does this mean I'm too weird?

I think, maybe these tests should not be used on pilots...Rutabaga? Lance?

It means you're an engineer through & through. No one will ever figure you out. Rutabaga, indeed.

I came up with a 8 and a cucumber.

HA! I picked 11 also!

And broccoli.

I think this has something to do with a thing called "anchoring," where your answer is biased by previous results. There's lots of ways to reproduce this.

One method I read is where people are asked general questions like "what percentage of people own a Chevy?" The first batch of people are just asked the question. The second batch is asked that question after spinning a wheel with markings from 0 to 100. In aggregate, the answers from the second group are clustered closely near the number that was spun on the wheel, even though it has NOTHING to do with the question.

People are weird.

I think if it doesn't work, it means you think outside the box. Pilots tend to think outside the box.

I got 7 and corn. Thought potato first, but quickly thought that was no good (later remembering it's a tuber, right?). So it was corn. Ha! Thanks to Henning, for reminding me corn is not a veggie either (it is a grain of course....). So seven. And I'm a vegetable.

But all this really goes to prove one thing. Michael, you really are bored, aren't cha! :D

Wierd.

I'm such a conformist.

Well, pilots in general tend to be a "bit unique", don't you think?
