It's time to choose a new tribology place, shoot out your favorites.
Piston, 6x/yr, quality/speed/price are the usual factors but not excessively so.

A new place? Who was the old place?

Oil Analyzers sold through Amsoil or Polaris labs is better than Blackstone in my opinion. More accurate results, more elements are presented, they do a gas chromatography test for fuel dilution (much more accurate than blackstone "flash point"), they provide Oxidation (anything more than +17 over the "BL" baseline indicates the beginnings of sluge). Plus it's $27 as opposed to $40 by Blackstone. The only thing Blackstone has going for them in my opinion is the Universal Averages, but if you do one analysis with Blackstone you'll have those. Blackstone comments are also usually a little better.

What is the turn time for Oil Analyzers?

Once they receive it I usually get the results within 2 business days. Have had them as short as next day and as long as 4 days. They sell prepaid shipping kits or you can ship it on your own as fast as you like, I usually use the UPS prepaid kits and including shipping I have results in 4-5 business days from lower 48. Shipping from Alaska where I usually am is a bit longer.

No, its not $27

To get that $27 price you have to join their 'club' for $20/year.

Regular Oil Analyzer price is $39.95 and you have to pay to send it in.

How many oil changes does the average PPL go through in a year? One? Two?

You’re right, it’s not $27, it’s $26.55. You’re WRONG about needing to be “in their club” for that price. $22.15 “preferred price” for the non postage paid kits. $39.05/$32.75 for USPS or UPS prepaid.

You can order the same kits direct from Polaris Labs (who does the testing) if you don’t like Amsoil but since Polaris caters to fleet customers you will have to contact them; setup an account, and probably order at least 10. I don’t know if it’s any cheaper.

Now tack on $9 UPS for shipping.

You actually gotta SEND IT BACK TO THEM at some point, on your dime.

I prefer blackstone. I bought 100 prepaid kits before the price went up. Change the oil and send it off pretty much every 1-1.5 months at 50-60 hours on the oil. I use their pump and pump it through the dipstick hole. The whole system is just clean and easy.

I also like that I can log into the site and have all the previous results for each airplane. I like that I can ask for things to be included in the notes section on the report. So if you have done some work or are trying something new it can be noted right on the results to view later and keep things straight.

Grab a kit from the box, cut a few feet of 1/4 ice maker line and stick it in the pump, screw the bottle on to the pump, pull up the sample, cap and drop in the prepaid envelope and done.

Are you drunk?
No, just literate. Parent posted the price WITHOUT return postage. Gonna be hard for any company to test oil when its still in your garage.

That big ol image even says 'NON POSTAGE PAID' in big honking letters.
