Was returning from lunch today and noticed a formation of 5 fighter jets directly over the Savannah airport. I thought wow, cool, 5 fighters (not RVs the military kind) in formation, wonder what are they ar…. ooooohhh nooooooooo here we go. 5 (FIVE) sequential overhead breaks in class C airspace over a populated area!!!!! Somehow they got them down without incident… But just think what could have happened if…

Seriously, was pretty cool to watch though.

We saw a lot of that in Kirtland, too, back when the 58th Fighter Wing was based here (they since relocated to Holloman). KABQ is also Class C.

As a kid growing up in the 60's, I lived about a half mile east of the Wyoming gate right on the fence line. Hardly a day went by without a group of fighters flying over my house in echelon, and as they traveled a couple of miles further west the break would begin.

By then they were pretty far away but I could see the sun reflecting off the wings as they rolled.

There was also the occasional B-58 and other cool stuff... all quite a show and the reason I grew up fascinated by aviation.
