- - - the Kennebec River, Bath, Maine to Woolwich; Sagadahoc Bridge(the new one) and Carlton Bridge(built in 1927 but now only in use by trains on the lower[and only] span). The cream colored building just to the left of the Sagadahoc was the home of Maine's first governor, William King(not that actual building(for decades the Customs House), but on that site along the river was his mansion.

Bath Iron Works, Shipbuilder lies to the right. The bridge at upper right leads from Woolwich(mainland) to Arrowsic Island; and 6½ miles beyond that bridge is where I live on Georgetown Island(approached by another bridge).

When the new bridge was built it had to be high enough to permit a BIW Navy ship to go under it if such an emergency should occur. The Carlton Bridge was/is a draw bridge. Wiscasset Airport is about a 2 minute flight just slightly right of the nose. Photo taken August 13, 2010.
