Bro do you even lift
as a kid I ate cream of wheat with lots of butter, sugar and a lil milk but for some reason these days I occasionally eat oatmeal. I have a bag of frozen berries that I'll put in it and sometimes bananas and walnuts too. how 'bout you?

I do various things with oatmeal. Don't really love it, but it's a staple. Mostly though I just do brown sugar and milk, maybe a little butter, might have it once or twice a week, might not.

Never liked CoW, but like oatmeal. I usually just throw a little sugar in it, but like a few of the flavored versions they have like cinnamon apple and brown sugar/cinnamon. I really only eat it a dozen or so times a year, and generally only in the winter months.

Remember malt-o-meal? That was the s**t

I eat oatmeal because I have kids and it is in the house.
Same with Spaghetti-Os

Both are great but they wouldn't be in the pantry if not for the munchkins.

I just eat it plain, no sugar, tastes fine to me. I can't eat the flavored versions, it's so sickeningly sweet.

:vomit:

I love it. Try this. Take an apple and dice it up. Add one pack of Oat Revolution Maple and Brown Sugar Steel Cut Oats and the required amount of water or milk. Microwave per the package. Its GREAT! I suppose you could use other maple and brown sugar instant oats, but this brand it my preferred because its been on sale for a long time at less than $2 for 10 packs...

This is probably not the healthiest way to enjoy oatmeal because the packets have 11g of sugar, plus whatever is in the apple, but its delicious!

a little goatmeal, some bread, some cheese...that makes a simple breakfast...if I'm more energetic then bacon, eggs, bread...ymwv

If I am eating it at home and dont need the convenience of the packets, I use regular oats with an apple diced up with cinnamon, nutmeg, and ground cloves. I add some milk once its done cooking. The apple adds plenty of sweetness for my taste, but you can add some maple syrup (real) if you'd like.

Oatmeal with milk, and either a little bit of white sugar since it's right there, or a shot of maple syrup.

I go through an oatmeal binge a couple times a year. I'll fix a bowl for breakfast 3-4 times a week for several weeks, then not touch it again for 6 months or so.

I often stir a little dry oatmeal into some Greek yogurt and mix in a banana or some berries and a little cinnamon.
On a cold morning, I will heat up a bowl per the instructions and stir in a banana and maybe some nuts of fruit. No salt or sugar.
That is representative of my diet and I am still overweight. My wife says it is the Scotch, but what does she know.

About the only way I could tolerate it (back when I ate carbs) was to put so much sugar in it that it was very unhealthy. I haven't eaten it since I was a kid.

Oatmeal is best when it's used as an ingredient in chocolate chip cookies.

For cookies -- definitely;
By itself? With a splash of whole white milk, pecans, cranberries!!

Whole different ballgame than grits or grapenuts --- the two grossest inventions to ever come around --- ok, also posole to the gross pile

You can do a lot with oatmeal, now that I've gone Atkins, oatmeal is out.

I eat about 1/2 to 1 cup every morning. Most of the time just dry or mixed in a shake. Getting my carbs in early for the day. Its clean that's about it.

Love it. But not that instant crap. Gimme that 5 minute stuff and I'm a happy camper.

Add butter, some brown sugar, and maybe some cranberries or raisins. A buttered slice of toast on the side with a small glass of milk and a cup of black strong coffee. It's the start of a wonderful day.

Cooked steel-cut oats on weekends; quick microwave oatmeal during the week in the winter season. Dried fruit, pecans, and brown sugar or (real) maple syrup. Boom.

Yep. I don't miss it. The bowl of oatmeal, if I chose to eat breakfast (I rarely do) would now be a small bowl of tuna salad. Maybe wrapped in some lettuce if I had some on hand.

Every morning. Usually with blueberries or mixed fruit (fresh in season or frozen) and a little salt.

The instant stuff doesn't compare.

Eat it every morning. Not the quick type, nor the flavored kind. (way too sweet). A small dollip of peanut or almond butter and honey. Good stuff

Ha! Every now and then my wife has to pop open a can of Chef Boyardee mini-raviolis.
I have always liked the Chef Boyardee regular sized raviolis. :D

As far as oatmeal goes I eat it occasionally with butter and brown sugar and maybe some berries if I have them. The flavored ones are either too sweet or artificial-tasting. I can't decide which.

LOL. There's a couple of cans in the pantry. They're God awful for ya, but they're a stupid childhood memory that has to be eaten once in a while.

Oatmeal is good. I rarely bother with breakfast though. And if both are available, I'd rather have a bowl of grits with a little butter and just a touch of sugar. If only one is available, either is fine.

Prefer a bagel with cream cheese and preserves of some sort (blackberry is divine), or smoked salmon and capers (yeah, for breakfast), over the bowls of stuff.

I also love Frosted Mini Wheats but never think to buy them.

Was a paid taste tester for different mini wheats a number of times in my youth. Would get a couple of boxes and questionnaires with a bubble scan sheet on paper back then. Heh.

They appeared to be testing different "frosting" most of the time since the wheat biscuit didn't change much. Some weren't very good, others were better (to me) than the type you usually get.

I like grits and eggs with butter but no sugar. Being a northeasterner I had never heard of grits until I was an adult.

The reason the grits scene in 'my cousin vinny' is so funny to a northeasterner is because its true lol. The first time I saw grits on a menu I snapped a pic and posted it to Facebook for the folks back in jersey to see lol. I'll take a BEC with SPK any day.

Steel cut oats in the crockpot overnight takes care of the long lead time for prep.

No Waffle House in Jersey? Every WH has grits.

I got a kick out of some trivia about WH. FEMA has a scale to measure how a neighborhood/area is doing after a disaster that includes whether or not the WH is open, if it's on a limited menu, or if it's closed. The Waffle House Index.

"Grits" is such an unpleasant name for a food  I have actually never tried them, hadn't heard of them until a couple years ago.

I have had spotted dick and custard though, so what the hell do I know about unpleasant food names :rolleyes2:

Hhhmmm, pb IN oatmeal, interesting....

Terry Davis introduced me to this at OSH this year. I like oatmeal, but our daily breakfast was a packet of oatmeal and one of those individual snack packs of crunchy Jif PB stirred in. OMG.

Steel cut, with some walnuts, banana and milk.

Really? Hmmm... I may buy one of them itty bitty sized crocks, then. I'm usually running late in the morning, this would save a chunk of time and not make my co-workers hate me as much. :-)
