For an O-300 with a filter, how often should i change the oil, both in engine hours and number of months. I fly about 75 hours a year evenly spread out. Biggest lenth between flights is two weeks, and get up about once a week if weather cooperates.

I ask all my engine owners to use 20W50 Phillips and change at 25. with or with out filter.

the 0-300 has a corrosion problems for the front sump, you need to keep the water out.

We change it every 25-30 tach hours or 4 months, whichever comes first.

I was thinking this was going to be my new standard coming in, and that article says the same thing. So works for me!

One other thing, around these parts (MO), every four months works well when running straight weight oil (which I typically do). 8 months of summer weight, 4 months of winter weight.

I'm not sure that works for you in MA though.

On my IO-360, it's every 50 hours, but this plane flies that every month or two. On a plane that sits most of the time, three to four times a year seems about right.
