I'm getting to do my first O-200 crank-rod-piston installation on a C-85. The kit and STC was obtained from Aircraft Specialties Services. When the STC instructions arrived, there was a note that the crankcase slinger ring retainer would have to be opened up to 3 inches if it measured at 2.3.
Can anyone tell me if ALL crankcases have to be modified or only some. The case is at Divco and it they have already shipped it will be a real pain to get the case machined out here in the middle of the AZ desert.
I initially was under the impression that no case modification was necessary.
