People have formed lasting relationships with people on the other end of telephones long before there was an internet. There are lots of reasons for it and it isn't new. The internet, facebook, my space, skype, text, and email have just made it all that much pervasive.
I feel for the guy but really... He should just get a pet. He can bond with something he can actually hold.
And he was right telling people he met with her several times. People would think he was crazy otherwise.
 
Athletes are entertainers. I care not about football at all but finding out that his imaginary Internet girlfriend has a penis is priceless entertainment!

Her male "cousin" texted him, then called. The same guy who was apparently scamming him all along.

Gotta wonder why Manti didn't go visit her in the hospital during her extended illness and coma. If he was really so close to this Internet flame that he slept with an open phone line all night so they could hear each other breathe, you'd think a major hospitalization after her "car accident and coma" would have been enough to make him get on a plane.

I understand the naive Mormon kid from Hawaii, blah blah blah. But did he even send flowers to her funeral?? Come on man!! The love of his life and he nor his family sent a bouquet of fresh cut roses shaped like a heart?? :rolleyes: He didn't visit her in the hospital, he didn't attend or send flowers to her funeral, he lied to his dad when she no showed at a meeting in Hawaii? At some point even a 10 year old quits believing in the Tooth Fairy. :mad2:
