NTSB hearings, no change

Someone's got to lose, I guess.

I always chuckle at the old adage that there's always a winner and a loser... No, there's always a winner, a loser, and a large group smart enough to get out of the way when the shooting starts.

As one of the comments said, that's what happens when we accept that [something] is a privilege vs a right. You end up playing by their rules. This is true for lots of things; many of the government variety.
On the other hand, trials do not necessarily go the way an innocent person would want. The costs of fighting either can be quite prohibitive and limits the defense one can put up.

The days of innocent until proven guilty has slowly slipped away. This is not only true in the setting of the FAA vs Pilot, but in the court of public media. It is only going to get worse. Once you start down the slippery slope this country is on with personal liberty it will be difficult or impossible to get back to the top.

Unfortunately, the NTSB's complicity will erode its respectability. That is a true pity, as it could serve an important role in the nation's transportation network.

Availing yourself of the NTSB process is a prerequisite to move the case the the real judiciary. Unfortunately, you're not allowed usually to introduce evidence there. The sham is that the assumption is that the FAA investigation is GOSPEL and everything has to be argued on procedural grounds.

This cannot survive Constitutional scrutiny, can it?
