Probable Cause PDF: http://www.ntsb.gov/ntsb/GenPDF.asp?id=ATL06LA083&rpt=fi

The National Transportation Safety Board determines the probable cause(s) of this accident as follows.
The pilot's failure to abort the takeoff after the airplane failed to achieve adequate airspeed on the takeoff roll for undetermined
reasons. This resulted in an abrupt pull up, inadvertent stall, and in flight collision with wires, trees and the ground.

Thoughts?

1,383 feet is pretty doggon short for a Mooney, I would think.

They mention skid marks in the report, but I don't know how I feel about The State getting someone to read the report and make his own ideas about what happened (the whole parking brake scenario). Also curious about the induction tubes since the report mentioned that the bolts were missing.

In either case William , if the plane cant get up to speed he should have aborted long before trying to jerk the plane into the air. But thats my opinion, Brakes dragging or induction problem should have been found on Taxiing and Runup.

I totally agree. In the end it doesn't matter WHY the aircraft didn't hit the proper airspeed, it should've been recognized and the takeoff aborted.

...and an airplane that cannot make a turn-around under its own power.

2400 RPM... nowhere near adequate, one expects about 2600 static, IIRC.
