Flying thru Orlando air space, just normal day, then they called me I answered, they called me, I answered, my instruments started to flicker, my Alternator quit.

Shut down all stuff, called Orlando, they answered all OK.

The small long screws in my alternator got loose, backed out a little, stator touched armature, good by voltage alternator.

This happened with one of my mags from the Bahamas, Mag quit, if this happens to you, get down unless you have plenty of fuel, from Bahamas home normal about 30 gallons went to over 50. I never lost a mag and did not know what would happen.

Loss of power right off and fuel burn like crazy. I was a scared old man watching my fuel disappear and not wanting to alarm my wife fifty miles from shore.

I have had a few flying lessons the hard way, but I remember my instructor saying just "Fly the Plane". It works for me..
