Saturday, April 24th, Noon lunch run!
We can meet for lunch at Williamsburg Jamestown (KJGG)at Charly's, (take home some fresh bread) and take a short taxi ride over to the Williamsburg Winery for their tour. Williamsburg Winery is Virginia’s largest winery with an annual production of some 60,000 cases. With approximately 100 wineries in Virginia, the Williamsburg Winery accounts for almost one-quarter of all wine production in Virginia. The Williamsburg Winery was established in 1985 by the Duffeler family.
The Gabriel Archer Tavern serves lunch daily from 11 am - 4 pm with main courses under $10. Savor a French Country Platter with assorted patés, meats, cheeses and freshly baked bread or one of our sandwiches served with a baby green salad with dried cranberries, crushed pecans and topped with our Raspberry Vinaigrette. Seating is available, weather permitting, on the outside terrace where you can dine under a canopy of wisteria, enjoy a glass of wine and take in the beautiful vineyard view.
Guided tour includes a video presentation on grape growing (viticulture) and winemaking (oenology), a stroll through the barrel cellar and a visit to the production area. In their museum you will enjoy a collection of unique and rare vintage wine bottles with a grand finale tasting of seven of our wines in an etched wine glass that is yours to take home as a keepsake. The cost is $8.00
Another great attraction to visit is Historic Williamsburg! Historic Area includes scores of original buildings, hundreds of homes, shops, and public buildings are reconstructed over 301 acres - most on their original foundations. Rare animal breeds, trades, and gardens add layers of authenticity to the recreated town. Learn more about the Historic Area.
