non-traffic misdemeanors

I've had one ticket in 40+ years of driving - for 6 over. Unfortunately, it was in a state where all moving violations are misdemeanors. Being an uptight driver with zero history, I actually had no idea that paying a ticket turned it into a conviction, so I now have a misdemeanor conviction on my record. Am I correct in assuming this is exactly the kind of thing the FAA means to exclude by the wording on the application? It's been depressing and humiliating to report a criminal record in other places.

You can’t get it expunged?
Expunged does not change the fact that it happened. It also does not erase it from history, many people have been violated based on "expunged" records.

TX and WV are two examples where any traffic ticket is a misdemeanor.

Which question? 18v is around administrative actions, 18w specifically says nontraffic. The FAA does not care about your speeding ticket.

Were driving privileges revoked or did you have to attend an educational or rehabilitation program as a condition of the conviction?

Does not qualify for reporting under 18.v or 18.w. The conviction is for a traffic related misdemeanor that does not include drug or alcohol related issues.

Yeah, sounds like your misdemeanor might be in the clear for FAA purposes. It’s just a simple moving violation, so it shouldn’t be a problem unless it involved something more serious, like drugs or alcohol. Honestly, the FAA tends to focus on more major stuff, so this probably won’t be an issue for your application.

There's only two things I think the FAA is concerned with: making sure that this doesn't involve driving with alcohol/drugs and that you've not had repeat manifestations of a psychological problem.

Even in our state where 20+ speeding is likely to land you in jail doesn't seem to bother them too much. One of my employees spent 4 days in jail for 100 MPH on rte 28. I had to rat him out to the security clearance investigators but they kind of scoffed and said "traffic" and went on.

FlyingRon is correct on this one.....and he OP need not report this one (If I am reading his post, correctly).
