A pal is having a hard time finding one, he doesn't have a parts manual.
Hate to call Cessna anymore without a pn.
Maybe they are all generic?
What would he need for his 1978 Cessna R 182RG with an O-540D?

He is tracking down a whine in the headsets, somehow they have eliminated the alternator but the mechanic is too busy to look further, he is looking for ideas as well.
Thanks

Dave, if the noise varies with engine speed, I still favor the alternator as the culprit, but I have no knowledge as to whether the noise suppression (can be as simple as a capacitor of appropriate size between hot and ground) is supposed to be internal to the alternator, as it usually is in automotive alternators. If not, then I would chase down where the fool thing is or is supposed to be, and replace it.

I used to be an ace at tracing down alternator noise in cars. But that was weeks ago.
