Looks to be in rough shape. What would you figure the $$$ required to make it airworthy again? Hate to see such a classic relegated to scrap. Shame.

Why would anyone put 310 brakes on it? WAY overkill, IMO.

Just a rough swag, but I'd guess that airplane is worth far more parting out to keep others flying than it would ever be worth to fix.

It's a 36-C8C

very rare aircraft in that condition when it was nosed over. notice the time since restoration?

I'll bet the pilot in Command didn't know how to fly the aircraft, " Oh Hell yeah, I have a conventional sign off, I can do it"

Both wings are toast, and must be rebuilt from scratch, I'd charge 15k each. I have PMA to built spars but no materials. that spar is broken, and the size of the plank to build it will be around 5k.
Engine has 0 since major, and needs to be repaired, I'd not worry about the crank due to the wooden prop. but two cylinders are damaged, how much? who knows. cylinders are 2500 each are the case studs in good condition? no? the engine is parts.

vertical and rudder are easy fixed. probably 10k for both.

but were you to rebuild it, you have a 3 place aircraft that would go any where, and draw a crowd. and be fun as hell to fly, on nice days.

I'm kind of amazed that a nose-over can do that much damage..

Can you even get replacement cylinders for the Warner?

No support for the old system, because they didn't know it was standard 36/37 Chrysler drum and shoe, buy them new at LeBonney and Barron. as were the interior handles and window cranks.

Yes a nose over can cause havoc, specially when you are going as fast as you land. 60MPH.

yes there are cylinders on Barnstormers now for sale,

and I know there are a few more around.

we have a good supply of Warner parts because a fellow in Mo. can build them, by permission of the type certificate holder. very hard to find items are cases, cranks, air intake housings, and gear case covers. ( the rear section of the engine ).

Buy that aircraft, give me 30k, and I'll fly that aircraft to you with in a year.

The pilot was commercial rated and was a prospective buyer. I have no idea how many hours of conventional gear time he had. This was, according to eyewitnesses I trust, over compensation by the pilot. The plane had been successfully flown and the brakes used repeatedly without "Grabbing" Sad. If anyone is seriously interested in this plane send me a PM. It is 12 miles from my home.

Nice insight, but no one had over 8 ours in it for a long time.

The key here, is proficiency in make and model.

Absolutely. KRDM has 7k of runway, no idea why he got on the brakes.

Redmond OR ? was this the museum's aircraft? freaking shame.

absolutely no reason to bastardize a good old aircraft with brake mods when they don't need it.

Yes, Redmond OR. Don't know what museum you are referring to.

I just checked the FAA data base the N number belongs to a couple in Ill.

They couldn't have flown it from Ill in 8 hours as advertised in the ad.?

I thought WAAAAM had one, but guess not because it doesn't show on their web page.
