Nissan car with sel cleaning paint

I wondered the same thing about "NeverWet" spray, available at Home Depot.

Looks like amazing stuff. The future is going to be awesome.

Imagine how many days in a row you will get out of a pair of jeans now. :)

Heck, my dad pioneered a similar concept on aluminum siding in the 60's. Of course that coating wasn't anywhere near glossy enough for a car but it did "clean itself" every time it got wet.

I bought the stuff, it was around twenty dollars if I recall correctly. It works as advertised. I used it on a brand new pair of shoes. It changed the color of the shoes to a milky brown, and the black rubber soles turned purple.

It was amazing how it repels all liquids for a little over a whole day. The following day not so much. In a week, my shoes had no water repelling characteristics at all, but the soles still were purple.

It is only good for solid items I guess. I don't have any solid items that need to be waterproofed that I can think of.

If they ever come up with a version that worked on fabrics and had a usefull life, it would be handy stuff. It does not snow all that much where I live, actually, it does not snow at all.
