That's rippin'!!! I HATE headwinds too.
On my last trip, at roughly the same power settings, I averaged about 27 mpg downwind
and about 19 mpg upwind.

Coming back from Grand Rapids yesterday I was doing 210 kts ground speed in the Beech 18. That's over 55kts of tailwind at 9k!
