I may be going to NY in the next couple months for vacation (still in planning stage). I was hoping to do the Hudson River run with a local CFI the first time through. I'll have my wife and 5 yr old with me as well, so I'll need a place that has a true 4 seater.

Any suggestions on the best place to rent from in the NY/NJ area?

Get the N.Y sectional and look at all the a/p's ..give em a call....there is quite a few east and west of the city !

Lots of places to rent around the NYC area. If you don't mind going out east a bit on Long Island, Heritage Flight Academy is a great place to do the Hudson river tour. They're out of Islip KISP.

I'll vouch for these guys myself. Heritage is where I rent from and did all my training. Excellent planes and great instructors. Only a short train ride out on the Long Island Rail Road to get to Islip. They will even pick you up at the train and bring you to the airport.

Good point henning- I can't vouch for any rental places closer to Churchill Manitoba though.:D

.... Tough crowd here. I was gonna point this out to- glad others did:wink2:

Long island aviators out of kfrg, nice 172's with g 1000. If your not familiar with the city tour one of the instructors will be able to help you out.

I know a great instructor that flies an SR20 out of BDR and another good one that flies a DA40 out of MMU. Both instructors know the area well and are familiar with the hudson corridor, also both aircraft can comfortably fit 4 people.

Let me know if you want more info.

Should've chipped in where I rent from: Empire Flight at KFRG ( http://www.empireflightacademy.com/ ). 172S, DA-40, Cirrus SR-20 and SR-22. They've got the best SR-20 prices in the area, which are right around what others charge for a G1000 172.

I used to rent from (and completed PP with) Academy of Aviation at KFRG ( http://www.academyofaviation.com/ ). They've got a large 172 fleet, G1000 and steam, as well as a 206 if you're looking for something bigger, and a few twins I think.

Thanks for all the tips! I'll start checking them out.

This link opens for a second then switches to a different site with an unknown language. Could this have been hacked?
