Everything Offends Me
Got a buddy in New Orleans, thinking about learning to fly.

Any recommendations on flight schools or CFIs he can check out?

I've got an uncle learning out of KNEW. He seems to really like it, but I'm not personally familiar, so can't really give it as a recommendation. I helped him do some some background research when he was looking into flight schools last year... not sure if rates have changed on any of these places, but here is a copy/paste of the places in the area I could find at the time:

Gulf Coast Aviation:
http://gulfcoastaviation.com/flight-training/private-pilot/
Airport: New Orleans Lakefront Airport, Towered, Multiple Airstrips
Discovery Flight: $135
Cessna 162: $99/hr
Cessna 172: $139/hr
Instructor: $59/hr

Air Reldan
http://www.airreldan.com/learn_to_fly.html
Airport: St Tammany Airport, Non-Towered, single 3,000 ft runway
Discovery Flight: $99
Cessna 172: $140/hr
Instructor Rate: $40/hr

Aviation Specialist Inc
http://www.aviationspecialistsinc.com/FlightTraining.pdf
Airport: Louisiana Regional Airport, Non-Towered, single 4,000 runway
*Only one plane available, so tight schedule... fine if not in a rush to get licensed.
Discovery Flight: ?
Cessna 172: $125/hr
Instructor rate: $35/hr

He went with the first place on the list and seems happy.

If he lives in the city his best bet is Gulf Coast. Driving to the other places will get real old real fast. Does he actually live in Nola or near Nola?
