I've been getting used to an avionics upgrade, Garmin 650xi, two GI275s, Stratus ESG/3i, and Foreflight. A lot of it is (finally) working the way I want, but I have an odd problem with Foreflight. I have glide ring (glide advisor) enabled, and traffic map overlay. Every once in a while my glide ring disappears. Usually at the same time, I lose velocity vector information for traffic targets. I still have the little blue arrowheads, just no velocity lines. Generally the next time I go out, it all works again.
I haven't changed any configuration settings in FF. I can't find any pattern to when it fails vs works. Googling a bit, I found suggestions that the tablet wasn't correctly connecting to the WIFI interface on the 3i, or that the 3i was having issues, for instance unable to see enough satellites. But yesterday when it happened to me, I double checked the ipad WIFI config; it said it was happily connected. And the 3i was displaying green lights saying it was all happy. I went back out today, and it all worked.
Anybody seen anything like this? It feels like some kind of intermittent signal lossage, but I can't find any indication of what might be causing it.This isn't ground-the-airplane stuff, but it bugs me; if these features are intermittently failing, is that a symptom of some deeper problem?
Any wisdom appreciated.
