New Ceiling & Visability Feature On ADDS Weather

What?

No pilots here care to know what the ceilings are for flight planning? :mad2:

We're going anyway. Full power, yank and push the autopilot button. Don't need no weather reports or instymink rating.

HEMS ADDS has had the AWOS feature for years. Weathermiester has the same thing. Graphical TFRs mixed with your weather page as well.

you know I'm yanking your chain in a playful way. Thanks for the link.

I almost never look at aviationweather.gov anymore. I can get the data I need elsewhere easier. That said you could kind of get the same thing before just by looking at whatever the overview of the country was that colored airports based on their VFR or IFR conditions.

Back when I was doing more flight instruction I would get up at sunrise and pull up that graphic barely awake. If it was pink or whatever color was IFR I sent a few messages and went back to bed.

Ever use this one: http://maps.avnwx.com/

Found it most useful when looking around me for a graphic view of where the VFR is and where it's iffy. I use 250 range, show METARs, TFR's, winds aloft and TAFs. When planning travel just move the center point with max range.

Hover over an airport and get the details of ceilings, vis and links to more.
