FB is inundating me with ads for a 2025 newly updated book "How to Fly IFR" It's available in EASA and USA formats. Allegedly.

I downloaded a sample and that is (apparently) in EASA format. So, still a bit obscure in references... Aerodrome, for example, instead of airport...

300 page book. $50+/- on sale

Good reviews posted (of course).
Some reviews on Amazon a little derogatory for the Kindle version. For errors...

Anybody gotten this book? Anybody think it's worth it..?

Just two questions, I think both rhetorical.
1 - Do people still use facebook?
2 - Doesn't the FAA have an instrument flying handbook already, with paper copies less than $20?

1. Yes, they do. Sure, there's Chinese spy program tiktok, and insta, and all the others, but FB is still there, too. Don't like it, but dragging my club of curmudgeons into the 20th century was hard enough. We use it for our flying club.
2. Yes, of course. About as dry and brittle as the curmudgeons heretofore mentioned. And worth every penny. But, if someone is looking for a new approach, with fresh insight and inspired shortcuts that might make learning easier... Why not? I mean, we ain't all driving steam gauges, loran, and coffee grinder radios any more, are we?

Yes they do; here are some numbers.
(Certainly there are some who disdain the service, but that applies to...just about any platform, in fact anything.)

  • Monthly Active Users (MAU): Facebook has around 3.07 billion monthly active users.
  • Daily Active Users (DAU): Approximately 2.1 billion users log in to Facebook daily.
  • Global Reach: Roughly 74.72% of global internet users access a Facebook-owned app monthly.

I would not have guessed... Clearly I don't pay attention to any of it. My only sources for knowing what's trendy are people at work, and I work with are IT people and attorneys, so maybe not folks on the tip of the social spear, so to speak.

Is there a discount code?

Is there a discount code?
Yeah, I've seen up to 30% off... Code changes so either go to the website, or Google "I fly ifr." Book

30% got me the book for $58.80 (no tax or shipping) supposedly being shipped... The label has been printed (in Spain?).

So, I'm the guinea pig... If it comes, I'll let y'all know. If I learn anything, I'll let y'all know that too.

I've been a VFR pilot since the 80's... Only instrument was as required for ppl back then, and BFRs and FRs since.

I'm hopeful that it might get me to the written anyway. If I pursue it.
