Well, okay, you have to accept hot air ballooning as actual "aviation" in order to call this an "aviation flick", but it's still a great movie. 
I knew as soon as the critics panned it that I would love it, and I did. It has everything: a great cast, great 3D special effects, and a great story to tell. We actually STOOD IN LINE to see it (when's the last time you stood in line to see a movie?), and the IMAX theater was packed to the rafters.
More amazingly -- the crowd APPLAUDED at the end. When's the last time THAT happened in a theater? It's just a very well done movie.
Best of all: You can comfortably bring your kids or grandkids to see it. There's lots of action and some violence, but it's all fantasy -- no gore. And I could watch Mila Kunis filing her nails for two hours, so anything with her in it is worth seeing.
