New 80 HP Italian Engine

European engines slowly advance, even encroach on Rotax 912 in S-LSAs. UL wins a factory option in Bristell, and BOT plans to have D-motor as default. They get all the fun while it takes a homebuilder in America to use a WV conversion.

Glad to see some fresh ideas in that HP range....

80 HP out of 75 cu in is obtainable...... 150 out of 75cu in will take a fair amount of boost from the turbo...

Quote from the article......................

(The idea for the all-new engine comes from ICP owner Edi Razzano, who had Franco Lambertini from the motorcycle industry design it. Lambertini incorporated the two cylinders in a 90-degree "V" configuration. The normally aspirated, liquid-cooled engine has a displacement of 1.225 liters. The engine family will likely have up to four different versions - from the basic 80-hp model to a turbocharged version generating close to 150 hp.)

Why don't they just modify a Guzzi engine?

Well, that's a good question... I would even think that adding turbo to Guzzi would be easier than onto ICP, because exhausts on ICP stick outside of the V. It may be cheaper to design the whole new engine than to pry the license off the makers of Guzzi.
