Back in the late 70s early 80s the Navy launched a cruise missile, escorted by a fighter, from out in the Gulf. It had a route north bound passing just east of Destin FL, flying a few waypoints in southern Alabama, and then returning to FL hitting a target on the Eglin AFB range. Protesters were up on Hwy 98 with poles holding up what looked like a big fishing net. It obviously was symbolic, or was it, but it was comical if they thought they could "catch" a cruise missile.
