Need to add info to 8500-9

I've read in previous posts (most from 2015) that creating a new MedXPress account and submitting a new application is the way to go to update a form before bringing it to an AME. Is that still the case? Am I going to get in trouble for forgetting a few things on my initial 8500-9 submission (having not gone to an AME)?

I've made this mistake before and had no trouble just resubmitting the application and providing the AME the new number. The old submission merely gets deleted after 60 days if there's no medical examination for it.
