I didn't want to derail the other thread, but personally, I can't STAND continuous Christmas music every freakin' day starting the day after Thanksgiving or sometimes even sooner. I guess I'm a bah humbug kind of guy. I get in to the whole Christmas spirit thing... on Christmas day. And pretty much that's it.

Actually I get bummed out by the holidays. Not sure why, I just find them depressing. Not sure if it's the crowds, the commercialism, dunno, I just try to get past them as quickly as possible.

Anyway rant over. Carry on.....

Considering it's been going on for over a month already, I'm already quite sick of it.

For me, it's the fakeness. I'll freely admit I don't find it fun when people tell me to be jolly or else.

LOTS of people find holidays unpleasant. But, not many will admit it.

The week before Christmas ,up to and including Christmas Eve works just fine for me. All part of the marketing to get you out shopping.

Ugh. Shopping. I hate shopping to begin with. No, hate isn't a strong enough word. Endless rounds of Jingle Bells and songs about chestnuts (which can be explosive by the way) just aggravate the condition.

Have you ever heard of the concept of tuning to a different station to avoid what you don't like?

Umm, that doesn't help when it's piped into every public space.

I have the gift...

I taught myself to tune out all noise that I don't want to hear. Seriously, I can, with a little concentration, even ignore obama speeches, even when it's turned up really loud.

WARNING: It can get you in A LOT of trouble with my wife.

Maybe we are voting with our wallets? From Bloomberg "the National Retail Federation showed U.S. consumers spent an estimated 11 percent less than last year over the four days through November 30. It’s the second year in a row that Thanksgiving sales fell during a period famous for long lines and frenzied crowds."

All this means retailers will have to up the marketing efforts. More jingle bells please!

I believe the first Christmas commercial I heard was in AUGUST. As for the music, the first was before the end of October.
Yeah. I am done too.

Here's some music for all of you:

At our house Christmas season doesn't start until Linus tells us the true meaning of Christmas. I sat with my 11 month old son and watched "A Charlie Brown Christmas" in 1982. We have watched it together almost every year since. When I was deployed to Iraq he called to say he had watched it and wished me a Merry Christmas. This year he will watch it with his 4 yr old daughter and 2 year old son and I will call him tonight after it is over to wish his family a Merry Christmas.

That's a classic. Watched it many times.

Highest suicide is during Christmas holidays and it starts with Walmart selling Christmas decorations in October.

I'm not surprised. All that xmas crap makes me want to slit my wrists. :mad2:

Same here, for those reasons. Ever seen Miracle on 34th Street, the original version? There is a scene where Alfred complains about the commercialization of Christmas. In a movie made in 1947. It's exponentially worse now.
My wife loves the holidays. It's so annoying.
