from their update page:

"Which cycle?

  • Update to the Next Cycle
  • Update to the Current Cycle"

Without getting into my failings with the English language, let's assume I am a couple days early or late and want to get the correct data for future flying into my 530W.

I select the....Next Cycle, correct?

Unless your current cycle is out of date. IN which case you should get a current update if you wish to fly before the next cycle takes place.

will it ‘let’ you use future data?
Or will it permit it, just with a warning?

you must have current data if flying in IMC. It's not a tech question according to the FAA.

How far in advance of the eff date is the “next cycle” nav data published?

I hate to drag practicalities into these things but if I have a trip that will go over a transition date, I think I’ll try to load the Next Cycle before departure.

I have two sets of cards (430W) so I can d/l during the overlap period and switch on the first need after the expiry. The cards are overpriced, but it's more convenient.

Sometimes if I just need the break I'll go to the hangar and download there, watch TV, have a beer, enjoy the silence of no phone reception. It's nice that the office has A/C, Internet, and Sat TV. Gotta go do that maintenance, honey. heehee
