What have I done to have all these green splotches?
What are they?
How can I get rid of them?

Did you check all the layers in the bottom left to make sure nothing odd got clicked to display?

Jeff..........Thanks.

I have unchecked everything. Google Earth on the web acts completely normal.

I'm looking for a forum.

I have found, a few times, that Google Earth Pro on the PC (not the web based version) starts acting odd and I just have to remove the app and reinstall it to get it to behave.

Looks to me like you’ve got towered airports and 700’ class E floor airspace depicted. Sure you don’t have any .Kml add-ons loaded?

Brad..........you may be right. However, I don't see where I've loaded that. Going to check again now.

I did uninstall/reinstall, and all my places were saved somewhere. Which is good. Some bring back memories.

Looks very similar to the ADS-B/radar coverage map described here.

Let's hope the link works. [Edit - link seems good]

Otherwise maybe google for:
"FAA TV: ADS-B Coverage Map – Google Earth Plug-in"

To hide a layer probably use the Places->Temporary Places list as shown on the video.

These extra layers are installed with .kml (or the zipped version .kmz) files.

The home page for the ADS-B Airspace and Coverage Map is now here.
https://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/technology/equipadsb/research/airspace#interactiveMap

.kmz download, instructions pdf and video.
