Re: need card tricks for grandkids ages 9 & 12. We'll be with them for a week in As
I was going to make a video and put it on YouTube and link it here. But that seemed like a lot of work...
This is the best card trick I know. I looks awesome and leaves people stunned. It requires very little setup and with practice the setup can even be done right in front of people without them knowing you're doing it.
Setup: you need to start with the 4 ace on top of the deck. That's it.
Trick: shuffle the deck right in front of them. With just a smidge of practice you can shuffle consistently keeping the top 4 cards on top. Shuffle after shuffle the 4 aces stay on top and the viewer has no idea. After its obvious the deck is 'shuffled' place the deck on the table for them to cut. This removes all doubt from the viewer.
Announce that from this point forward you will not even touch the deck. Then instruct them to cut the deck and place it 'here' and point to the spot next to the deck. Now the 4 aces are on top of the second pile. The key to this trick is to remember where the 4 aces are at all times.
Have them cut that second pile again and place it 'here'. Have them cut the first pile again. The goal is to end up with 4 piles of roughly equal size and one of them has the 4 aces on top.
Now have them start moving top cards. Keep a sharp eye on the aces and don't lose track of them. You can even cut a deck againg, put an ace on top and then have them move that onto a deck without an ace on top thus creating a new pile with an ace on top.
After you have them move a bunch of cards around and cut and restating and they are thouroughly confused have them stop. This will be when you have 4 piles with an ace on top of each. Announce you would like them to turn the top card of each deck over. Watch with delight as their eyes open up.
Usually the first turn over raises an eyebrow...they second solicites a 'no way!', and the other two just blows their mind. Have fun.
