Necessity or Nuisance??

I get incessant pop-ups from Outlook Express:

"To free up disk space Outlook Express can compact messages. This may take up to a few minutes."

Should I accede to the procedure or is it just a nuisance, it popping-up as an interruption of whatever I happen to be doing?

If you are using outlook express as I am, allowing it to compress when it desires is a good thing. (1) protects the integrity of the data files (2) stops the annoying pop ups.

If you have never done it, and have a lot of folders where you keep your different email subjects.

Start it and then go make your lunch, it could take 5 min or it could take 15 min.

Thanks; I've occasionally "compacted;" but was just curious if it's a necessity.
