Touchdown! Greaser!
I was stuck in NC yesterday evening, so I sought out the nearest airport to see if I could sneak in a flight.
Unfortunately, I didn't get to fly because the CFI's were both booked for the night, but this looks like a great little field to fly out of. They've got a crazy list of aircraft for rent: An Archer, Two 2005 Citabrias (one is the "High Country Explorer" edition with 180hp and VG's), an amphibious Cessna 180, a Navajo (only $425/hr!
), and a Bell JetRanger helicopter (only $720/hr! ).
While I sat at the picnic table on the ramp, there was a Citabria and a pair of Cessnas in the pattern. A Citation landed and departed. A Cirrus pilot was just hanging around and I talked with him for a while. Someone also was doing his BFR in this beautiful Navion:
