I saw this on a resume, and I'm trying to figure out what this means - i.e. is this person an ex SEAL?

PM if you'd prefer.

E5 DC2 – Enlisted Petty Officer Second Class
Back Ground Support Seal Team 6 Coronado CA

Naval Enlisted Codes and training:

SAR – NEC Pilot Rescue (SAR Advanced) Search and Rescue - NEC

Thanks,

Team 6? They all are. (Hint - Team Six generally equals no verifiable records, everything we did was off the books, etc., etc.) I agree, check with veriseal.

And "shellback" as a qualification? Come on, you're a shellback if you cross the equator AND participate in the tradional ceremonies. Otherwise, you are, like many, just a lowly polliwog.

At a glance, without talking to the guy, I'd say "poser", but ask to see his ORIGINAL (not a copy) DD214 as an initial check. If those NEC's are not listed, and his duty assignments don't jibe up....well, you are on the trail there.

Hey Andrew,

Please don't forget to keep us posted on the results of your investigation.

1 vote thumbs-down for me. I'm guessing "S-Riffle" means he qualified Sharpshooter with a Rifle, unless there's a new tactical weapon out there called a "riffle"? Isn't that the presidential introduction song? Oh no, that's "Ruffles and Flourishes". Anyway, no SEAL is going to qualify as Sharpshooter with a rifle.

On the other hand, what you posted doesn't look to me like your PO2 claims to be a SEAL. Background support covers a whole wide arena. re: the NEC listings, I don't see anything odd there...looks like a standard listing for SAR swimmer and instructor.

Greg "Shellback" (so what? cute little certificate and some stinky memories)

Don't the cooks in the galley and custodial personnel "support" the SEALs when they are on board the ship? ;)

On a side note, my ex got a letter from her ex who was in basic with the Marines. He wrote in a letter the 'my rifle' saying. However every 'rifle' was 'riffle'. "This is my riffle..." Quite amusing with the change in spelling. :)

I guess I qualify as a SEAL team support member. On the Fast Attack Submarine I served on I was Helmsman/Plansman during a few "exercises"
of SEAL team members egressing the sub using the forward and aft escape trunks.

Hey! I might qualify, too! I did my water survival portion of SERE school on the same beach in North Island that the SEALs train on!
