Two Naval officers, both experienced aviators, were killed in the crash of a Piper Turbo Lance II in Dallas County, Alabama.
This incident was called to my attention because a friend has a son in Naval flight training, and one of the deceased pilots was the CO of his first training outfit. It's a real eye-opener for him that even highly-seasoned pilots aren't immune to things going wrong, even in a Piper. Article says they declared an emergency and soon impacted the ground at high velocity.
