I'm sure glad I'm not working today! There's about 4 inches of snow on the ground, with forecasts of anywhere from 7 to 14 more by tonight.

Not much better here in COS. 4" on the balcony so far. Drifts look maybe 8" in places. Breezy.

It doesn't look really bad though. I'm thinking snow hike with the camera any minute now. Picture link later if it's any good out there.

I hope it gets worse. LOTS worse.
Thought to the weather gods for today: "Blizzard, Blizzard, Blizzard, Blizzard. Get on with the program. Blizzard, Blizzard..."

Yes, its basically a blizzard here. Typical Denver weather, blizzard today, 60+F on Tuesday. First time I ever heard Centennial tower quiet.

United's counters at SEA were bonkers this morning, all flights to/through DEN canceled--and much of UA's routing eastward from SEA is through DEN. Ticket agent said the 6 am flight took off then returned to SEA, which suggests the weather got bad faster than originally forecast. Luckily, I happened to book SEA-ATL via ORD, where I'm now in the Red Carpet Club--talking to you all while I wait to board the next flight. Anyway, the Colorado weather has thrown UA's entire flight schedule into a cocked hat; presumably the same for Continental and maybe American.

Of course, the same weather will arrive here in Illinois in about 48 hours. This after raking the flower beds, changing the various oil sumps, mowing the grass....you know....

Yesterday was 65F, tomorrow will probably be the same. Today 28F and snowing. It's not much of a storm at least locally. 28F, moderate snow and blowing like crazy at times. The sun was almost out about 30 minutes ago (it got really bright)

I just had to go for a little walk with my camera a while ago so enjoy:

Bruce, it's better than the swirling clouds and hail we are supposed to get from it tonight! :) I am sure I will get called out for air ambulance tonight. It would be my luck.

TSRA warnings and watches are already posted for Texas this afternoon and tonight. The TAF this morning for SAT had winds 25G40 TSGR in it. Current forecast discussion calls for hail, and possible tornadoes.

It's going to be an interesting evening.

Well.... THAT was fun!!! NOT!!! Just got the power back on here in the foothills about 1530 MST - it's been off since 0545 this morning. Stoked up the fireplace, fired up the generator a few times to give the fridge and freezer a shot of power and just hunkered down, read the paper and drank some coffee.
I said "See, honey, I TOLD you we needed to keep the campstove and coffee pot in ready reserve."
She said "Since you've got the generator running, why don't you just plug your electric coffee pot in the same cord that goes to the fridge?"
I said "Hmpfff. I LIKE my campstove coffee!"

The airmet/sigmet chart of the central US is so overlaid with boxes and symbols it looks like a real mess up there.

We got about 1 inch of snow down here in Albuquerque today too. Of course, I left my window down last night, so my truck will have the stinks for about a week or so.

This weather has to get better soon...it's spring, right?

Gee, my wife and I are taking mountain flight training out of Boulder next Monday. Hope it clear out by then... My inlaws say it is forecast to be gone by mid-week though, so hopefully you guys will be back to something approaching spring by then. I guess that's why we all call it training :)
