So the wife wants to go to Nashville for the weekend. Any suggestions on where to land? Suggestions for things to do?

Cheers

Cornelia Fort is gone. That was probably the best bet in the past. Actually going into BNA isn't too bad, ATC there is pretty laid back. I have friends out in Mt. Juliet so I usually fly into Lebanon (nice little place).

Tons of stuff to do in Nashville. I'm not even a big C&W fan, but I went to the Country Music Hall of Fame (neat museum) and the Ryman (former Grand Old Opery). Lots of little shops and bars (for all kinds of music) along the strip along Broadway and up 2nd Ave. We took in a performance of the "new" Grand Ol' Opery which was pretty neat. There are some tours of Andrew Jacksons estate or a dinner cruise on a (mock) paddlewheeler if that's what you're into. Neat estate, garden, and sculpture display at a place called Cheekwood (been there a few times).

I have used KMQY in Smyrna several times as a refueling stop. It is a very nice GA airport about 10 miles SE of KBNA and fuel is less expensive. There are 2 FBOs. Smyrna Air Center has been very good to us. I have not toured Nashville for many years but there is a lot to do in the area.

Ok, I was thinking about going into Tune (JWN) just because it looks the closest to downtown and we are going to have to get a cab/shuttle. But I will def look into those options as well. I don't have any objections about going into BNA, but sometimes it can be a hassle for GA.

John tune KJWN, nice airport very good service.

There is plenty to see and do, take a gps, it makes life easy. Here is the link from our trip.

Plenty to explore on 2nd street. There is a nice zoo, of course the opry and we checked out the TV show American pickers antique shop.

I would look into getting a rental car at KMQY. It would probably be less expensive and offer more flexibility than a cab if you go several places.

Thanks for the Blog. Sounds about like what we will be doing so that was great information. I didn't even think about the American pickers shop, what a great idea.

Well I was really hoping to get a shuttle from the hotel and try and walk most places, but maybe just getting a rental car would be better since she wants to see some things.

KJWN has rental cars on property. Not sure of the rate however.

Where are you staying? I've stayed in both the Marriott Courtyard (built out of an old bank building...interesting lobby/dining room) and the Doubletree. Both are a couple of block walk from the Ryman and just about all the other downtown activities.
I shuttled/cabbed it from BNA to both of those...

I've run the Country Music Marathon a couple of times which gives you a rather interesting perspective on the town.

Well I just started planning the trip so I don't have a hotel yet. I am also looking for suggestions on that also. So I will keep those in mind for sure. I think we going to be leaving the 12th so I have a couple weeks anyway.
What is the Ryman?

I usually go into Tune (JWN) also. I highly recommend it. Give Corporate Flight Management ((615) 350-5000) a call. They have rentals, but also have offered to run me into town before. They have great service there and are really nice.

I have used KJWN multiple times and would recommend it. I have also used M33 and M54 one time each. They are good airports, but there distance from downtown Nashville makes them inconvenient.

I really liked the Parthenon. Nashville has a nice zoo too.

KJWN has a fly-in on the 29th from 11am to 1pm. Supposed to be live music and $5 plates of hamburgers, hotdogs, and all the fix-ins.
