Narco ID825 in need of help.

Hello, all,

I have a Narco ID825 VOR/LOC/GS tied to a MK12D.

Last year's (previous owner) VOT check is scribbled in the books as a PASS.

Now that I am near completion of my IR ticket (in another plane), I've noticed the following problems:

Fails VOT (6deg off)
NAV flag unless OBS is nearly centered
GS works, but flag doesn't disappear until short final (well, 3-4 miles out I guess).

Wentworth will sell me a working 825 for $600.

Avionics shop nearby says problem could just as easily be in the MK12D (FWIW, the radial displayed on the MK12D shows correct where the 825 shows is several degrees off).

What are your thoughts? Buy replacement 825 and swap it and hope it works? Time saved with plane not grounded would be worth the money IF sending the entire plane to the shop is going to be nearly the same cost. Of course problem may still be there even with replacement 825 (MK12 issue, antenna issue, etc).

IIRC, there's an adjustment in the receiver to set adjust the meter to the bearing. But I may not be remembering correctly. If that's the case, the receiver needs adjustment.

Before I spent a bundle on replacing anything, I'd be asking a shop with the correct manuals to check the adjustment.
