Made it to the Naval Aviation Museum at NAS Pensacola on Tuesday and the weather lifted enough that the Blue Angels were able to fly their practice routine. iPhone pics and vids suck for these kinds of things so I quit trying and enjoyed the show. They still move me!

Nowhere near enough time to see all there was to see in the museum in one day!
They had an E-2 inside - a newer model than I flew, but still had to go pat her on the nose.

Had lunch at (the copy of) Cubi Point grill, where I found a squadron plaque from my second cruise

And posted it on Facebook on the Hawkeye Hangout group. I got a half dozen quick replies from old squadron mates, some of which live near Pensacola. One turned out to live just across the street from the condo we were renting. He walked over and we got to reminisce and catch up on nearly 40 years.

The Naval Air Museum is one of our favorites to visit. The kids never get tired of it and the Blues are always a treat. I think they put on a better show at home than they do elsewhere. We visit at least once (usually a few times) when we go down to the area for vacation.

Need to go again, last time we went girlie was 6, she's now 16. :eek2:

Not to steal the Naval Museums thunder, fantastic museum, but there’s another great museum 45-60 minutes east in Ft Walton Beach near Eglin AFB, the Air Force Armament Museum. Not anywhere as large but worth a visit, free admission too. One of the Constant Peg Migs (MiG 21) is on display there. I mean if you’re gonna be in the area. :)

I'll have to make note of that for the next time we go down.

Favorite museum to visit. Lighthouse offers a unique perspective for practice days but I still prefer the flightline.

I’m always amazed my wife doesn’t fuss when I linger at places like that.
