The last 2 nights, we had the opportunity to attend Wings programs on NACO charts (IFR on Tuesday, VFR on Wednesday). Their seminar list is kind of out of date, but it gives contacts who can probably tell you when the next one will be in your area. http://naco.faa.gov/index.asp?xml=naco/outreach
It was an entertaining and informative meeting. As usual, there were reminders of things we already know (the meaning of R frequencies on a VOR box) and some things we had forgotten (What to look for on the ground if the chart indicates jumpers). We were also briefed on some new features on charts (National Security Areas) and things that are being planned for the near future (Lots of GPS features) . Since the speaker actually edits the A/FD and charts, he was able to give us the "WHY" for many of the features (Why are some reporting points blue and others another color?).
