Is there such a thing as looking up someone's phone number (a landline #) online?
I recall the olden days where each city had a 5" tele book; thought we'd see that publicly available info online by now.
Even searching 'free white pages' leads only to paid services, so perhaps not.
Need to look up a phone number in a distant city.
Thanks.

Zabasearch is a great resource for that. And you can Google "phone number directories" and come up with a few free lookups.

The demise of the phone book has been a boon to airplane booster cushion manufacturers.

:D

anywho could not find me; clicking names there did not provide phone nmbrs.
superpages; white pages, small link at bottom yielded same good results as zaba -
Thanks all.

whitepages.com is what I use.

Of course the real issue is lots of people don't even have a landline anymore.
Cell phones aren't nearly as well indexed.

Whitepages.com does not appear to give phone numbers.

It does if they are listed.

Sometimes it has only the address when it's derived from some source without a phone number (I assume land records).

That's the problem, as I pointed out, lots of people don't have land lines and cell phones aren't "listed" all the time.
