Does anyone here use corporate or product overview videos for your business? We're looking at expanding some of our marketing into video and have seen a wide variety of pricing from local ad agencies (all of which do everything in house).
  • The majority of what we shoot will be one of our employees interviewing someone else, service overviews (with voice overs, b-roll and someone speaking to the camera) or really basic educational/whiteboard videos.
  • Final length will vary from 1 minute to 12 minutes, depending on the video.
  • No CGI or fancy editing required...just basic captions and graphics
  • Shoot locations will all be local

I've seen everything from $120/hr (production time, even if there are 3 video/sound people at the shoot) to a pre-negotiated rate of $3,000 per edited minute.

Any recommendations of what to look/ask for? Also, can anyone shed light on an "average" cost for video shoots?

We dabble in that field and the number we throw out is about $3,600 per finished minute.

Field costs of the shoot to capture raw content is one thing but many WAY underestimate the amount of editing time that is sucked up in reworks, tweaks and edits to get to the final product.

Your client has a vision of what they want a painting to look like and the editor is trying to create that painting and meet their expectations. Some are thrilled with the product, others can not effectively communicate what they want for any price and your entire team spend the whole project beating their ideas against the wall.
