GV is going to be the best way for me to call Germany (car rental place).
I can’t seem to figure out how it works.
I’m going to persist with GV for a while before I look at alternatives. (none of my cell or landlines have intl calling plans).

I have added $10 to my Google account.
(The calls are cents per minute.)
I get the advertised number and paste it into GV, or type it in and get this:IMG_9592.pngIMG_9591.png

I used GV for years (still do). Never had a problem making international calls.
Have you tried calling another number (local) to verify it is working properly in general?

Did you add the + symbol in front? Mine always had that for a foreign call w/country code. IDK if automatically added that in, but when I look up my historical calls they all show it.

Edit: also recommend WhatsApp. A lot of my international friends use it.

Chatgpt says you can’t call a business using WhatsApp.
I don’t know anyone there I can call to verify it’s working.
I am using the + sign.

Weird. I've definitely called businesses using WhatsApp. But that's in South America, maybe their biz number is just their cell phone lol.

Have you called your wife’s phone using GV? Are you on wifi?
 
Nevermind. The Enterprise number doesn’t appear to have all the digits necessary because I just called Sixt at MUC using GV and it went thru.

Chatgpt is wrong. You can call anyone on Whatsapp that's on Whatsapp. That includes a lot of businesses in foreign countries. But you can't call just any random number from Whatsapp, business or not.

When I punched the number in it says such calls are completed through your carrier not the (currently connected Starlink) wifi. It proceeded to attempt then the carrier (StraightTalk) says 'insufficient funds'.
So, it might well work. But within the constraints of my OP, (not using my cellphone as it has no intl plan), no.

That means that number isn't on WhatsApp.
