NA - Resort recommendations needed

My brother asked me for some recommendations for a hotel/motel resort for a family reunion for his wife's family. The preferred location is south of New York, North of Washington DC and as far west as Pittsburgh. If you have some good recommendations outside this area but close, well, post them too.

This reunion is on the elderly side, so access to athletic facilities is not a requirement. Shopping and restaurants nearby is a must. Also, they are not looking for high end.

The Poconos (Far NE Pennsylvania) are a great suggestion. The Greenbriar is a bit on the high end side but in this economy they may be ready to deal..... Thanks for the suggestions, and if there are any other ideas, keep them coming!
