[NA] Please explain this to me

Rib joint? Gotta throw those bones somewhere.

No doubt a State (or local) regulation. Makes perfect sense to me - simply an effort to keep food stocks well separated from trash, lessening risk of commingling.

I asked the owner (whom I've known for ~5 years) where the edible trash is kept. He looked at funny and laughed. He said he got them used.

What I think happened is that they came from a food processing facility. It's required there for (hopefully) obvious reasons. But it was odd to see it right out in the dining area.

You never know about employees, they could easily reach in there and get your meal fixings without that sign.

I swear I saw a couple of cartons of hot dogs at my college cafeteria labeled "Grade Edible" one day. Not coincidentally, also the last day I stayed on the meal plan. The interwebs claim this food grade designation never existed, but I know what I saw, and the year was 1988. Given how sick that cafeteria food often made me feel, I question the accuracy of that grading. Probably belonged in the OP's photo container.

Sadly, there are some supposedly normal intelligent people that need labels like this to tell them what, or what not to do.....:frown2:

Here's another of my favorites. I think it means 'Don't vomit in this bucket'
