Me again.
I have a brand new multimedia card 512mb 7-contacts "Transcends"

It appears to be rejecting my attempts to use it.
"unable to copy files to card as it is write-protected; remove write protection"
Maybe the option is just well hidden? I tried all the usual places including right-clicking it, going through all those options.
Successfully formatted it.

forgot to mention Nick, no physical lock or switch. Its an older model but a brand new card.

Try the file attributes. Select the drive-> Right drag properties and see if Read Only is checked on.

I assume you have tries the manufaturers website as well, Right?

a google search found many forums like this
which suggest a common flaw in the card readers, not the cards.
They build the readers with a switch, which if not contacted by the card properly, results in a write-protected card.
I tried the tape trick and voila, presto, yee-haw....it works fine.
Now, should I try the solder trick on the reader to short circuit the WP......
