Going deep into Mexico soon, reading stories about gringo nappings - mainly average folks, not celebrities -holding people for months then making their family bankcrupt with continued $ demands. Anyone know anything abt this insurance? Or how to get a pistol across?(!)

Deep into Mexico? Deeeeeep. Since you really didn't say your need to the travel your doing an April Fools joke. Or a retard actually trying to smuggle a firearm into mexico. Either way, no one will help you break the law.

Stop trolling :)

Sure is. I had a policy last year for travel all through Africa. The one place it wouldn't cover us was Nigeria - having been there, I'm not surprised.

Kidnap and ransom insurance is quite real.

Oh I get that. But asking on a public forum for information on how to smuggle a firearm internationally?...... troll or dum dum dum

Lol or APRIL FOOLS. Come clean ts

Oh I read that as "I either need insurance or a way to protect myself"

No worries in Nigeria at all!! I know a guy there that can help. He is a prince and he is helping me get a bunch of money a distant relative of mine apparently left unclaimed in a bank!

Smuggling a gun is just like smuggling anything else. Just put it where they won't find it. All a crapshoot where you hide it that somebody wouldn't find it.

Just a game with odds on how much of a chance you are willing to take vs. the risk of getting caught. Sometimes the most obvious places are the least likely to be found.

Likely cheaper in Mexico to just hire a body guard to drive you around for a few days, and not risk getting caught smuggling a pistol, if you are that worried. Personally, in Mexico, I wouldn't worry about getting kidnapped "deep in Mexico".

Stay away from the border towns and enjoy the people, the country, the food, and tequila. Life is short, enjoy it when you can.

Not sure I would be very comfortable pulling a gun on the folks down there. Somehow I have to think they may outnumber me with guns and ammo.

I frequently travel to central Mexico on business (about 200Km north of Guadalaja) and have never had a problem. However, the adjacent state of Zacatecas is off limits unless I'm going with locals or company provided driver.
My recommendation; go and have fun but be aware of your surroundings like any foreign land or large city. The people are great and the food/drinks are some of the best in North America.

I friend was kidnapped about ten years ago. He owns some manufacturing plants down there. He was lucky, he escaped after two weeks.

Don't wear the trappings of a wealthy person, expensive cloths, Rolex watches and such.

Never try to take a firearm, drugs, ammunition and such into Mexico, their laws do not work like ours do.

Never strike a Mexican citizen unless your a Mexican yourself. If you get shortchanged or some other violation of your dignity, point it out politely to the offender, but do not hit them or grab at them. Mexican cops can get downright brutal over that issue. It will not matter if you were in the right or not.

I had another friend who made that mistake down in Ensenada after being shortchanged in a bar. It took six months and many thousands of dollars for his family to bring him back across the border. He had been tortured and beat repeatedly during that time. I'm doing a quick gloss over, it was much worse. That was about twenty or so years ago.

Mexico is a wonderful place, I've had many good times down there, all you have to do is not play the rich ugly American and you will do fine.
