Touchdown! Greaser!
It appears that the itouch has zero spam filtering on the email browser. Breathtaking, the amount of stuff that is coming in.
Googling 'itouch spam' was unhelpful.

Putting one on the device would be a disservice to the user. All that email would have to be downloaded, the device would have to decide what would be placed into the inbox and what would go into the trash. The device would use a lot of compute cycles to accomplish that which would require a faster more powerful CPU or else the use would have to sit and wait. That faster/larger cpu would use more power which equals less battery time. On top of that the user would still have to possibly pay for the wireless data download at worst case. At best the limited wireless bandwidth is being taken up with data that no one wants. Thanks for the explanation Kent.
Too bad there isn't a spam filter built into the device's mail-viewing program, or an add-on which one might download.
I really couldn't stomach another email address/account, but thanks.
You are correct about the name.Dave,
There's no such thing as an "iTouch" which is probably why googling "iTouch spam" was unhelpful. Try "iPod Touch."![]()

Filtering spam is extremely CPU intensive. I have twice as many spam servers then I do SMTP servers. At least 90% of the incoming mail that hits my e-mail cluster gets filtered. It's ridiculous.
Mobile devices really don't have the CPU to be trying to do spam filtering. Plus client-level spam filtering usually sucks.
