Attached, finding them in my field. It says "Chance" I think around the edge. There is a 9 or 6 in the center.

It looks like some sort of percussion fuse to me.
 
so, utility company item?
don't recall overheads / tranformer there, will check.
 
That would appear to be the case. I'd say you have a blown one.

Look at the link I posted. If the wire in that fuse link melted, what's left over would look exactly like what he's holding. Plus the brand name matches.

Ah yeah. Didn't look at it earlier. Sure looks like you got it.
 
powerline transformer fuse link cartridge ... here's an image of one type that looks close. They install in a ceramic holder on the transformer

The ones I recall most common during the time I worked as a lineman looked more like this, with rings on the end to allow them to be installed by a hotstick.
