I have looked into video monitoring for an elderly relative but had the thought, hey I can get 90% of what is needed from audio monitoring and that would be a lot less intrusive than a bunch of cameras poking out of living room corners plus simpler hardware/software/reviewing of data perhaps.
However I am not finding what I thought I might. Anyone done this?
Was thinking I could get non-intrusive microphone "buttons" which could be stuck under coffee tables, nightstands etc that bluetooth to a receiver which makes and saves a searchable recording.

Are you near a Fry's? They sell wireless audio microphones (bugs) in the home security section...

For the trouble of messing with audio-only, why go that route if you can get video for the same amount of "IT-setup" pain? Unless you find a system that doesn't run on WiFi (like something in the 2.4GHz spectrum) and can pair a dozen devices, I'd think a home security/Nest camera system is probably just as good. I'm sure cost is a difference, but for the work of setting it up, I'd rather have video, too.
