Driving back tonight from Little Rock, I got to play with an unmarked State Trooper.

About halfway to the house I passed a Charger sitting on the side of the interstate. Obviously a Trooper looking for speeders. As my luck holds he whips out as I pass and starts speeding along towards me. This starts our lovely game of cat and mouse for the next 30 miles.

This dude tried everything in the book to make me break some law. Tailgated me to see if I'd go faster then 75 MPH while I passed a 18-Wheeler. Tries to brake check me to see if I'd tailgate him. Drives along side of me to see if he can annoy me. This whole time I'm watching his every move and reacting to it.

After about 20 miles he "decides" to move along. During this I notice that there is an exit coming up. I'd figure that he would "exit" and see if I'd speed up, assuming that I think he got off. Well he does exactly that trick, so I lightly let off the gas and let him over shoot.

Well unknown to him I've been listening to my scanner. He tried calling in my plate with no luck. Finally the dude gives up and aggressively flies past and out of sight. He calls to his buddy up a head to keep an eye out for a green Subaru. :rolleyes2:

So, of course, I waved at the other Trooper as I passed.

I hate cops that try to make you break some law so they can give you a ticket.

Are you sure it was a cop?? I had some real fun with my dark blue Chevy Caprice in high school.

It was a cop. He had the interior light bar and the comm antennas on the back. Plus why else would I have heard my plate number being called in to dispatch?

next time call on your cell phone and report an aggressive driver, that you think might be a DUI. Describe the car carefully. Only do it in an area which is not restricted from cell calling.

This kind of think happened to me in MI a few months back going from Detroit up the freeway late at night. I happened to see one of those PSA signs; "report aggressive driving *CHP" or something. So, I had the unmarked car tracking me, then falling back, then pulling ahead and I called it in. A few minutes later he U turned on the I state and went the other way.

I've had cops tailgate me for miles.

I chalk it up to the ham plates with the slashed zero. You can see the idiot typing into the laptop (yeah, that's safe) three feet off your bumper and ****ed off because he keeps entering an "O" instead of a "0" and is getting an error message back.

I've been sooooo tempted to nail the brakes and claim an animal darted out.

Years ago, a guy I worked with and I went out to lunch, but we had to drive separately because we were headed in different directions after lunch. He was in a really souped up Mustang Cobra (supercharged, 500 HP, etc), and I was in an old Porsche 911 I owned at the time.

We were both kind of speeding through town, but him a lot more so than me. Motorcycle cop pulled out and started chasing him with lights on. Friend was in traffic and trying to move over to stop on side on road when the traffic light at the next intersection turned red, and the person in front of him stopped suddenly rather than going through the light.

Friend's Mustang had really beefed up brakes, so he stopped on a dime, but the motorcycle cop was following him so close, he couldn't stop in time, hit his bike on my friend's left rear quarterpanel, and flipped the bike (and himself) right into the pavement between the lanes of traffic. I saw the whole thing, because I was one lane over to the right behind them.

Turns out, at that point the motorcycle cop became an "officer involved" and other cops had to show up and take his statement and fill out a report. And, he couldn't issue a ticket to my friend for speeding. He was effectively out of the loop. It was eventually decided he'd been following too close and tailgating, and the police department had to pay for all the damage.

So...your theory of claiming an animal crossed the road and you had to slam on your brakes just might work :)

Some years back I was going through a Porsche phase and it happened to me fairly often. Once I was followed for 30 miles until I finally hit the state line. A Guards Red Porsche 930 seemed to p. off cops. My ride in my old age is a Dodge pickup--they leave me alone now.

Messin with the man.

Reminds me of a story I heard that happened in Australia. Apparently there they have police vans with cameras on them that they will park near busy intersections to catch red light runners, the cameras catch the license plate and send you off a ticket.

A group of dudes snuck up and stole the license plate from the van, put it on their car and proceeded to run the red light about 8 times while the camera watched :rofl::rofl:

Sort of a similar situation, but a friend of mine was leaving the bar at about 6:30 in the evening and he noticed some random kid sitting at the corner of the street, didn't think about it, started to pull out and immediately 5-O darted out from a street down and made a beeline to his location.

He hastily pulled back in his spot and ran back in to the bar. Assuming it was a fluke, he got back in his car a few minutes later, and the same thing happened. Except he had his eye on the kid and the kid seemed to be communicating something on a cell phone or a radio.

He decided to bag it for a while, and instead remained at the place and had a couple of beers in the outside seating area. About a half hour later, the cop comes back around the corner and stops, the kid jumps in, and they drive off.

I've got a similar situation...but...it will start the spin zone a rollin

Anybody remember this?

PHOENIX — Speed camera photos of the man in the monkey and giraffe masks have generated lots of chuckles. But the cops aren't laughing.
Dave VonTesmar, 47, started getting the $181.50 tickets last year, but it took Arizona state police several months to realize the same driver was repeatedly triggering speed cameras and refusing to pay the fines. By the time they did, more than 50 of the tickets had become invalid because the deadline for prosecution had passed.
VonTesmar, who has now amassed $6,7000 in fines, is fighting each citation by claiming he wasn't behind the wheel.
In Arizona, people who receive photo-enforcement tickets in the mail have four options: Agree they were driving and pay the fine, say they weren't driving and send in their driver's license photo as proof, request a court date and fight the ticket, or simply ignore the ticket because law enforcement can't prove they received it. The ticket becomes invalid if a violator who ignores it isn't served in person within three months.
On Aug. 19, DPS served VonTesmar in person with 37 tickets, mostly between 11 and 15 mph over the speed limit. The pictures accompanying the tickets show a driver wearing either a monkey or giraffe masks in VonTesmar's white Subaru, which has black-and-white checkered racing stickers on its sides and a sticker on the windshield that reads "Bucktooth Racin'." http://www.nbcnews.com/id/32806142/...na-not-monkeying-masked-speeder/#.Uz3Qe6KCUtU

I'm all for public safety, traffic cameras, and speed traps but they are inconsistent, arbitrary, and as was pointed out, often done with deception. The inconsistent and arbitrary leads to the belief (and not mistaken) that speed fines are a municipality's use tax. The deception is obvious. If the police were truly interested in the safety of the public, they would advertise where the police would be (big orange caution signs) and park a fully marked cruiser where it could be seen.
And it wouldn't all be about speeding. How about catching the SOB yaking on their cellphone or texting while driving, or eating their lunch or applying makeup or shaving or reading or weaving across the centerline as they do at traffic lights nowadays.
Enforce all the laws all the time. Not just when the coffers need a little boost!

I still kinda like this guy and his speed trap camera activities:

I love the police PR guy. Not, "We are demanding justice." Or, "We want to uphold the law."

Nope. "We just want his fines to be paid."

Sounds like mission accomplished to me... He's costing them more than they're making.

Of course that'll just mean one less riot suit and maybe one less evil large magazine for the shiny Police AR-15s, right?

Oh... They'll buy them anyway on Federal debt based DHS money? Huh. Would' never figured.

Guess they'd better ditch the van and go back to the nice lucrative War on Drugs. It pays better.

I think this is the best answer

Add...

"I'm scared they might be impersonating a police officer, since no officer drives like this, right? Send a real one, quick! I'm not pulling over for this psycho!"

ROFLMAO! It'll be hilarious on the news later that night.
